As you all know we went to Australia. But what was not mentioned is that on the Great Ocean Road we saw an Australia War World War I Memorial. It was built by Australian Veterans from the Great War who decided to honor their fallen comrades. Something that I really found interesting was that during WWI Australia had the highest casualty rate at 65% either dead, injured, or captured. The memorial was a statue of several trench diggers. They were part of the Australia New Zealand Army Corps. They fought over the entire war, and at the biggest event --Gallipoli on the Turkish Peninsula. It was one of the coolest parts of the trip. I could not believe that they had the biggest casualty rate during the war. Right above the Great Ocean Road was a giant arch. April 25th is ANZAC Day in both Australia and New Zealand, and there will be huge sunrise ceremonies across both countries. Some pictures of the statue are in the video if you wanted to check it out.
