A couple of weeks ago we went to the ecosanctuary and we saw a kaka that was eating almonds with his hands, and he was so funny!!!!!! There was a feeding station with a bunch of almonds on it. The kaka kept eating a nut then going back for more!!! We also saw bellbirds. Bellbirds are green and they are really pretty and they sound happy. We can hear some from our house. We also saw tuis (aka bowtie bird). All the birds were really really really pretty and they are native to New Zealand. They had to build a big fence around the ecosanctuary to keep all of the stoats (weasels), rats, and mice out because they eat the bird eggs which means the birdies can't have babies and that's bad. Also, we saw a tuatara who is lizard-like and is related to the dinosaurs. We couldn't see any kiwis because they only come out at night.
